from what I have noticed, as long as they have Charr in their name then yes they all have an equal chance to drop the Charr Hides.

Once you can get an Expert Salvage kit, buy one (400 gold). These seem to first be available from Yaks Bend.
actually you can first purchase them from Piken Square (as far as i know)...

Actually,

Espert Salvage Kits can be purchased from Rolf the Merchant in The Great Northern Wall. He also sells Runes of Holding as well. This is the first location that you can buy these items.

I'd say every 6th charr hide I salvage will turn into a fur square. Check the value of the Charr hide before you salvage...some are valued really low, which leads me to believe you won't get furr out of it.

Just my 2 cents but the best place i've found to farm up charr hides is in the flame temple corridor there are PLENTY of char. I'm a lv 20 w/m and I can fairly effictivly solo my way through without dieing to the mass swarms that sometimes happen, i average 20 hides a run and if anyone would like to come along just get hold of me in game, character name is on profile, or send me a msg through these boards. I play almost every day so if anyone needs help with fur just lemee know.

Where is Calissa?? I've looked all over...
Edit: I've seen her once before, but had no hides at the time. I thought she was somewhere SW of Old Ascalon, but haven't been able to find her now.

She's next to the merchant in ascalon city. the one closest to the storage people near a little overhang tent thing. She's a collector so you can use the alt key to track her down
